How do you make it easy to sculpt a cake?

I try to make a cake for the birthday of my son's car, I already know how I'll do … but I know that all the cutting and burning I want to do is simply make a lot of crumbs will show through the glaze. I do all of my children's birthday cakes each year and try to make it more interesting and creative individual year. I am not a baker, I am a creator. I know the basics of baking, but I'm really starting to learn good things. I use a cake mix … not making it from scratch. Is there a way I can make the cake a little more dense and not so sweet? Or is there another trick to bring out the sweetness in research? Thank you to everyone who can give me some good advice. I'm not going to special order the cake, because as I said … I make cakes myself, my children every year. I made a tradition to see what else I can create.

Ok, So after you've finished carving is what you do: take a pastry brush and brush loose crumbs. Then add a layer of soft icing. Basically in this layer, it is acceptable to have the crumbs.
