Few other poker websites can say that they were around when it first started – and soon, PokerRoom might be able to say that they were, and are once again. The infamous US poker room that was one of the original sites to offer real money games to online poker players has been rumoured to make a comeback in 2012.
PokerRoom was a success story for most of the decade that it was operational but was forced to close as one of the many victims of the UIGEA. Now, three years later with nothing but advertisements on the site leading to another popular online poker casino, there have been changes that no one expected.
Three years later, the site is under construction and many are wondering whether this means that the iconic PokerRoom site is going to be making a comeback into the world of online poker.
It began with the popular tweet that was announced by SEO manager at bwin. The tweet stated that PokerRoom was going to be up and running for players to take part in real money games. After being bombarded with questions from fans and the media for a day, the tweet was removed and the announcement was recanted.
After the news of the tweet broke, there were questions and speculations from the many online poker forums, news sites and fans. Everyone is wondering the same thing, was the tweet a simple mistake made by a staffer at bwin, or is there some merit to the fact that the online Texas Holdem website, PokerRoom is up for a return to take its place at the top?
The website is currently under construction and there have been no further statements from staff at bwin or Ongame regarding the status of the website and whether the poker website, or online playing platform will indeed make a return in 2012.
